Quarterback Prospects
First-round quarterbacks are always the highest-upside rookie cards. Look for autographed rookies in Prizm and Select — these hold the most long-term value if the player pans out. Chrome-based cards (Prizm, Optic) photograph and grade the best.

Top-5 NBA draft picks in the first two years of their career represent the highest upside in basketball. Rookie Patch Autos (RPAs) from Prizm are the gold standard — they typically 3–10x if the player becomes an All-Star. Focus on players who showed NBA-ready skills in college or overseas.
Retail Blaster Strategy

Update Series rookies have historically been very valuable — this is where many of the most iconic Topps rookie cards originated. Look for players making their MLB debut in the second half of 2025. Chrome refractors and autographed rookies are the premium targets.
General Strategy for Rookie Cards
Regardless of sport, here's how to approach rookie card collecting smart:
- Buy early. The best time to get a rookie card is before performance drives the price. Pre-season and early in Year 1 are typically the best windows.
- Focus on chrome-based cards. Prizm, Optic, and Chrome-branded cards photograph better, grade better, and hold value better than base paper cards.
- Prioritize autographed cards. Certified autos (not sticker autos when possible) carry the highest premiums and age the best.
- Know when to sell. If a player wins Rookie of the Year or makes an All-Star team, that's often the peak. Be willing to take profits.
- Don't over-invest in one player. Spread across multiple rookies — most won't pan out, but the ones who do will more than make up for the misses.
